Tommy Prine Releases Debut Single ‘Ships In The Harbor’

26

Tommy Prine shared his debut single, “Ships In The Harbor.” The singer-songwriter’s first official release came accompanied by a lyric video.

Prine, who is the son of late singer-songwriter John Prine, began causally writing songs as a teenager. After his father’s passing in April 2020, the now 26-year-old Tommy used songwriting to help process the grief.

Tommy Prine will perform in his hometown this week at AmericanaFest in Nashville. He will tour in support of Todd Snider later this year. A second single, “Turning Stones,” will be released in October. Tommy’s debut album is expected in 2023.

Regarding “Ships In The Harbor,” Tommy stated:

“I wrote it around my birthday last year and I always get super existential around my birthday- and I had a thought that we as humans can only feel as deeply as we do and love people and fear things and all the other intense emotions is because everything we experience is finite, including our own lives. So I wrote a song about these little powerful moments and reflections in the human experience to try and capture the beauty in mortality.”
