WOLF! featuring Scott Metzger detailed Adult Entertainment, a new EP set to arrive through Royal Potato Family on October 28. The trio’s first new music in six years includes lead single and opening track, “Ratso.”
Guitarist Scott Metzger put together WOLF! in 2014 with bassist Jon Shaw and drummer Taylor Floreth. The “Telecaster rock trio” released a self-titled studio album the following year and returned with their sophomore effort, 1-800-WOLF!, in 2016. Metzger, Shaw and Floreth began work on their next release in 2018 and recently reunited to finished the six-song EP.
“WOLF! has a thing. There’s an innate chemistry when the three of us play together,” explained Metzger. “I don’t hear anyone else really playing instrumental music like this right now. It’s a guitar-centered band, but it’s not about guitar solos or fancy chops. It’s about three dudes in a room making music in real time that just straight up feels good, you get it the first time you hear it. I think we all need a little of that these days.”
Adult Entertainment was recorded at Brooklyn’s Restoration Sound facility. The group tapped Chris Connors to mix the EP. Scott’s Joe Russo’s Almost Dead bandmate Marco Benevento contributed Farfisa organ to the track “Hawaiian Shirt.” Metzger shared the following about the creation of Adult Entertainment:
“We had WOLF! up and running pretty hard back in 2016. There were two really great albums, a bunch of sold out shows, a few songs licensed to film and television and then for a laundry list of reasons, some still even unclear to us as a band, our attention got pulled towards other endeavors. In 2018, we ducked back into the studio and put down some tracks, but again life pointed us in other directions and the recordings wound up on the back burner. As things started to open up following the pandemic, it quickly became apparent that it was time to finish up the EP and get the band back out playing shows again.”

WOLF! featuring Scott Metzger will perform at JamBase’s “As Summer Into Autumn Slips” event at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke, Massachusetts on Saturday, October 8. The two-day music event starts on Friday, October 7 with performances from the Marco Benevento Trio featuring Andrew Barr and Reed Mathis as well as Club d’Elf and William Tyler. Then, WOLF! shares the bill on Saturday, October 8 alongside Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey with special guest Marc Friedman and a set from Tyler. Grab As Summer Into Autumn Slips tickets now.
