Aoife O’Donovan announced a series of 2023 tour dates in which she’ll play Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraksa album from front to back. The singer-songwriter will perform the 1982 LP in Glasgow early next year and then at cities in the Northeast and Midwest in March and April.
O’Donovan first took on Nebraska at New York City’s Rockwood Music Hall as part of a 2011 residency. Aoife then played the 10-track collection The Boss recorded for the mostly acoustic LP during a May 2020 livestream concert originating from her home in Brooklyn. The album Aoife O’Donovan Plays Nebraska documenting the livestream show was released via Bandcamp in September of 2021.
“The songs on Nebraska are stories – richly woven tales of real people and the things that compel them,” O’Donovan wrote in announcing the concerts. “Bruce Springsteen is a master, and singing these songs in my own voice has been a challenge and a privilege. I can’t wait to finally play this album again live in front of people.”
Aoife O’Donovan will perform Nebraska at Glasgow’s Centre For Contemporary Arts on January 31. The Brooklyn-based musician then brings the Springsteen tribute to Alexandria, Virginia on March 15; New York City on March 16; Cambridge, Massachusetts on March 17 and Brownfield, Maine on March 18. Additional Nebraska shows will be held in Stoughton, Wisconsin on April 12; Evanston, Illinois on April 13; St. Paul, Minnesota on April 14; St. Louis on April 15 and Nashville on April 16.
