BTTRFLY Quintet Share Shimmering Jazz-Tinged Single ‘Buried Treasure’

32

BTTRFLY Quintet released a new single, “Buried Treasure.” The sleek soundscape is set for the Denver-based soul-jazz supergroup’s forthcoming album, Coast, due out on November 4 through Mocean Records.

BTTRFLY Quintet is Lettuce members trumpeter Eric “Benny” Bloom and drummer Adam Deitch. Deitch also plays in Break Science and is joined by bandmates keyboardist Borahm Lee and bassist/visual artist Hunter Roberts. Big Gigantic saxophonist and producer Dominic Lalli rounds out the impressive five-piece. The supergroup detailed their debut LP, Coast, in September and shared the title track.

The latest preview, “Buried Treasure,” starts out with a shimmering synth-soundscape before Deitch drops a snare-roll-inflected beat. The track then transitions into a jazz-tinged section underpinned by electric piano and punctuated by a slick horn line.
