Goose added to its list of high-profile special guests on Saturday night at Austin, TX’s famed Stubb’s Bar-B-Q with a sit-in by Big Boi and Sleepy Brown on a performance of OutKast hit “So Fresh, So Clean”.

At the tail end of a first set featuring performances of “Echo of a Rose”, “Everything Must Go”, “Red Bird”, Jim James‘s “State of the Art (A.E.I.O.U.)”, and “Animal”, Big Boi and Sleepy took the stage as their DJ, Cutmaster Swift, queued up the Stankonia classic.

“What’s goin on?” the OutKast rapper asked the sold-out audience before diving straight in with Brown, who co-produced the original track as part of Organized Noize and contributed its quotable hook. The grinning members of Goose played and sang along to the recording, adding a subtle new layer to an otherwise faithful rendition. This marked the Atlanta hip-hop legends’ second time through the song that day following Big Boi’s ACL Festival set Saturday evening.

Riding the momentum of the genre-crossing sit-in, Goose returned for the second frame with “Creatures” and Fat Freddy’s Drop‘s “Fish in the Sea” before percussionist Jeff Arevalo moved to guitar and Dawes‘s Griffin Goldsmith hopped in on drums for “Rockdale”. With time for a few more, Goose rounded out the Austin City Limits Music Festival late-night with “Yeti”, “726” and “The Empress of Organos”.

The sit-in by Big Boi and Sleepy Brown—let’s call it Sir Gooscius Left Foot—is the latest in a string of eclectic guests for Goose. In June, the Connecticut-based quintet welcomed both jam icon Trey Anastasio and indie heavyweight Father John Misty into the fold at a sold-out performance at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. Next month, the band will team up with Trey Anastasio Band for a run of joint tour dates. Goose has also previously collaborated with Griffin Goldsmith and other members of Dawes on various occasions.

Today, Sunday, October 9th, Goose will hit the stage at Austin City Limits Music Festival for a 7:00 p.m. set. For a complete list of the group’s upcoming tour dates, head here.
