Celebrated comedian Hannibal Buress surprised the audience at Blue Note New York on Thursday night when he hopped on stage to rap during a performance by Robert Glasper. The humorous guest spot marked the second time on the Blue Note stage for Buress, who previously opened for Reggie Watts and the famed jazz club with brief set of stand-up comedy.

Buress is the latest on a long list of recent cameos during Glasper’s monthlong Blue Note residency. Bilal and STOUT also joined in on the Thursday’s show, and the 2022 run has already attracted the likes of Miguel, Chris Rock, Jeff Ross, Lena Waithe, Gary Douran, and more since it kicked off on October 4th. The revered composer and eclectic jazz pianist has plenty more high-profile collaborators set to join him at Blue Note throughout the rest of his Robtober residency including Lalah Hathaway, Thundercat, Terrace Martin, Isaiah Sharkey, Alex Isley, Pino Palladino, and more.
