Rising Athens, GA genre benders Futurebirds rose a little higher this week with the band’s debut at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. The pair of performances at the iconic Morrison, CO amphitheater saw the band supporting indie-folk stars Caamp.
Futurebirds used the two nights at Red Rocks to explore their ever-growing catalog, including the group’s latest single “Sinz & Frenz”. Prior to headlining sets from Caamp, Futurebirds enlightened the audience to their unique bent on Americana music. With dense instrumentation from four guitarists including Kiffy Myers on pedal steel in addition to singers/guitarists Carter King, Daniel Womack, and Thomas Johnson, Futurebirds explored the genre’s outer limits as they touched on psychedelic-infused country as well as roots jam rock.
