[UPDATE 12/21/22]: The world’s first comprehensive Punk Rock Museum will officially open on March 10th, 2023, organizers announced on Wednesday. The museum spearheaded by NOFX frontman “Fat Mike” Burkett, which was originally supposed to open next month, will also host guided tours from punk luminaries when its doors open at 1422 Western Ave in Las Vegas.

Among the list of musicians already confirmed are Louiche Mayorga of Suicidal Tendencies, Noodles of The Offspring, Stacey Dee and Linh Le of Bad Cop/Bad Cop, Don Bolles of The Germs/45 Grave, Angelo Moore of Fishbone, Greg Hetson of Circle Jerks, Warren Fitzgerald and Joe Escalante of The Vandals, Pete Koller of Sick Of It All, Smelly of NOFX, Roger Miret of Agnostic Front, Intruder Blue of Masked Intruder, Scott Shiflett of Face To Face, Paddy Costello of Dillinger Four, and Zach Blair of Rise Against, with more to be announced.

“Visitors can look forward to hearing about the first Germs shows from Don Bolles, walk with Roger Miret from Agnostic Front as he tells them about living in a van in the Lower East Side in the early 80s, and hear about the crazy meteoric rise to fame from Noodles of The Offspring. Everyone who books one of these tours will hear stories no one else has heard before, from the people who lived them,” a press release reads.

Guided tours for the Punk Rock Museum will begin on April 1st. General admission tickets and guided tour packages for up to 20 people will be available soon on the museum website.

[10/10/22]: The world’s first comprehensive Punk Rock Museum will hold its grand opening in Las Vegas on January 13th, 2023. Displaying a collection with thousands of punk rock artifacts and relics, the Punk Rock Museum will document punk’s history and pervasive cultural impact over the past 50 years.

The museum was created by a collective of ten musicians and industry professionals assembled by NOFX frontman Mike “Fat Mike” Burkett. Among the project’s investors are Pat Smear (Nirvana, Foo Fighters), Brett Gurewitz (Bad Religion, Epitaph Records), Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman, and professional skateboarder/video game magnate Tony Hawk.

“This is a love letter to punk rock,” said collective member, founder of the labels Fueled by Ramen and Paper + Plastic, and former Less Than Jake drummer Vinnie Fiorello. “We want to show this common passion amongst so many different people for this form of music.”

The 12,000-square-foot museum will be the first to exhaustively document the history of punk and its influence on music, fashion, film, and popular culture. It will also be the first to welcome punk bands of all sizes. “If you’re a punk band, you’re f—ing in. It’s that simple,” Fat Mike said. “We want people to come from Indonesia and see the flier of their band on the wall. You know how proud they would feel? I want anyone in a punk band around the world to have that opportunity.”

In addition to a collection that includes Devo’s energy dome helmets, the acoustic guitar used by Rise Against to write some of the band’s first songs, and the bright green chainsaw Sum 41 used during the Does This Look Infected? era, the museum will also host interactive exhibits, including one where fans can play their favorite musician’s guitar and amp. “It’s a bar, a tattoo parlor, a wedding chapel, a punk shop, and more,” the website says, suggesting a wide range of planned offerings.

Presale tickets for the official opening of the Punk Rock Museum on January 13th are now available here. For more information, visit the museum website.
