See Gov’t Mule & Old Crow Medicine Show Load Stage For ‘You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere’ In Florida

Gov’t Mule and Old Crow Medicine Show teamed for a co-bill concert at Apopka Amphitheater in Apopka, Florida near Orlando on Saturday. The two acts united for a take on Bob Dylan’s “You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere” during the middle of Gov’t Mule’s set, while Warren Haynes joined OCMS for an Allman Brothers Band song in Apopka.

The Mule/OCMS run through Florida started on Friday in St. Augustine and continued after the Apopka play last night in Clearwater. Old Crow Medicine Show and Gov’t Mule close out their time on the road together tomorrow (Tuesday, October 18) in Key West.

While “You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere” was a Gov’t Mule debut, Old Crow Medicine show played the song a handful of times in 2017 as per Setlist.FM. Warren Haynes and his bandmates were rolling through a career-spanning set on Saturday that featured a number of covers when the guitarist asked OCMS to share the stage.

Fiddler Ketch Secor kicked off “You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere” and sang the first verse. Haynes then helmed the second verse before teaming with members of Old Crow Medicine Show to harmonize on the chorus. Ketch and Warren continued trading verses to bring the song Bob Dylan and The Band first recorded in 1967 as part of The Basement Tapes sessions to a close.

Gov’t Mule went on to conclude their set with a rendition of Al Green’s “I’m A Ram” and a gorgeous “Soulshine.” Old Crow Medicine then worked a heady mix of originals and covers into their headlining performance. The string band included the title track and “Lord Willing And The Creek Don’t Rise” from their 2022 studio album, Paint This Town.

Old Crow Medicine Show returned for the encore with Warren Haynes in tow. The band and their guest looked to the ABB songbook for “Midnight Rider.” Secor and his bandmates then went sans guests for KISS’s “Rock And Roll All nite” and the traditional “Will The Circle Be Unbroken” to end Saturday’s concert.
