Tank And The Bangas Celebrate The End Of Staying In With New Single, “Outside” [Listen]

75

Tank and The Bangas toast the return of live music with their new single, “Outside”, released on Friday via Verve Records.

“I think everybody is feeling that excitement and anxiousness about concerts and festivals coming back again,” said singer Tarriona “Tank” Ball. “That’s what ‘Outside’ is all about for live show lovers like us, who live for the energy we get from the people. We’re excited to share this song with you and can’t wait until the world is singing back to us, ‘We outside.’”

With an upbeat, groovy feel and characteristically soulful vocals, “Outside” sounds timeless while speaking to pandemic-era woes:

So much solitude’s unnecessary,
At this point I don’t know if it’s healthy,
………………………………………………
I don’t wanna throw my whole summer away,
Just because I couldn’t go out,
The first thing that I’ll do when it’s over,
run straight into you, grab your shoulders,
hug you till you’re blue, or at least till we’re not screwed.

“Outside” is now available on all streaming platforms. Listen to the track via audiomack in the player below.

Tank and The Bangas have an upcoming 12-show residency at New York’s Blue Note Jazz Club this November. The residency will take place over two weekends, with an early and a late show (at 8:00 and 10:30 p.m. respectively) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. It will kick off on November 11th, with additional shows on the 12th and 13th, and a second set of six shows will take place the following weekend, on November 18th, 19th, and 20th. Billed as Tank And The Bangas + Friends, the residency is sure to feature collaborations with special guests, as is customary for Blue Note residencies. Tickets are on sale now.

The band also has upcoming appearances at Roots N Blues Festival, Indy Jazz Fest, Mempho Music Festival, and more. Click below for a full list of shows and visit the band’s website for tickets.

Earlier this year, Tank and The Bangas released their third studio album, Red Balloon, which hosts contributions from Alex Isley, Masego, Lalah Hathaway, Jacob Collier, Questlove, Big Freedia, Trombone Shorty, Jamison Ross, The Hamiltones, Georgia Anne Muldrow, and Wayne Brady. Received well by fans and critics alike, the new album showcases the group’s acumen as songwriters while reflecting on the ills of America and celebrating the beauty of Black life.
