Umphrey’s McGee drummer Kris Myers’ Kick the Cat and New England supergroup Marble Eyes performed at the Arch Street Tavern in Hartford, Connecticut on Thursday. Myers joined Marble Eyes for some double drum action on their original “Broken Road.”
“Broken Road” came during the end of Marble Eyes’ set. The band — bassist Eric Gould (Pink Talking Fish), drummer Adrian Tramontano (Twiddle/KungFu), guitarist Mike Carter (The Indobox) and keyboardist Max Chase (Amulus) — got their frame underway with the Chase-penned “You Can’t Fool Me” appearing on the band’s 2021 debut album Return To The Roses.
“Damsel In Distress” then launched a three-song seamless sequence followed by “Cloud World” and “Sunburst,” with the three numbers together clocking in at close to 30 minutes. A cover of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ “You Wreck Me” came next.
After “Mushroom Butter,” Marble Eyes delivered another track off Return To The Roses, “Broken Road,” which saw Myers joining Tramontano on double kits. Two of the best drummers in the jam scene, Kris and Adrian delivered an impressive three-and-a-half-minute drum excursion before the band trickled back to finish up the tune, which featured some more explosive drumming from the percussive duo. Myers then departed and Marble Eyes finished up their set with “Truth” and “Dream Sequence.”
