Warren Haynes revealed the lineup for the 2022 installment of his Christmas Jam all-star benefit concert. Phil Lesh & Friends, Tyler Childers and Gov’t Mule will be among those taking the stage at Harrah’s Cherokee Center in Haynes’ hometown of Asheville, North Carolina on Saturday, December 10.
Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh will be joined by Haynes and John Scofield on guitar, keyboardist John Medeski and drummer John Molo for his Phil Lesh & Friends performance at Christmas Jam 2022. Tyler Childers will be backed by his band, The Food Stamps.
Brothers Osborne, Dinosaur Jr. and Beth Hart are also aboard for the return of Christmas Jam. Special guests include Hiss Golden Messenger (MC Taylor solo), Audley Freed, Scott Metzger, Katie Jacoby, Mike Barnes and more.
Warren Haynes put together his first Christmas Jam in 1988 as an opportunity to perform with fellow musicians in town for the holidays while raising money for local charities. Christmas Jam 1988 took place at the small 45 Cherry club. The event grew in size and stature each year through 2018, the last concert held before the show was put on hiatus. Haynes and his wife, Stefani Scamardo, started donating all proceeds from each Christmas Jam to Habitat For Humanity in 1998.
“I’m excited to finally bring back Christmas Jam and continue the tradition we’ve been building for over 30 years,” noted Haynes. “It feels like the perfect time to return to celebrating this wonderful cause (and life in general) and to be helping the community in my beloved home of Asheville. Christmas Jam is always such a special event for me and my family and this year’s lineup is one that is dear to my heart as it brings back some old friends as well as introducing news ones into the fold.
