Guitarist Scott Metzger recruited his Joe Russo’s Almost Dead bandmate Marco Benevento to play Farfisa organ on new WOLF! single “Hawaiian Shirt.” The track is one of six songs featured on the group’s upcoming EP, Adult Entertainment.
WOLF! featuring Scott Metzger’s Adult Entertainment is set for release through Royal Potato Family on October 28. The guitar-driven trio in which Metzger is joined by bassist Jon Shaw and drummer Taylor Floreth began work on the EP in 2018 before recently reassembling to complete the collection of instrumentals.
“Hawaiian Shirt” arrives just after the three-piece finished their first run of public concerts since the pandemic started. The trek included an appearance at JamBase’s As Summer Into Autumn Slips. WOLF! delivered an otherworldly 14-song performance at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke, Massachusetts that included an extended version of “Hawaiian Shirt” played sans Benevento.
The trio previously shared Adult Entertainment cuts “Ratso,” “Hedgehog” and “Hey Francis.” The gentle and throbbing “Hawaiian Shirt” thrives from the old school organ tone added by Marco Benevento. Metzger’s Telecaster is at the heart of the song with acoustic stylings layered for good measure.
