Deer Tick shared a previously unreleased demo of “Make Believe.” The track is set to appear on the Providence, Rhode Island-born band’s imminent 11th-anniversary edition of the 2011 album, Divine Providence, due out on Friday, November 11 via Partisan Records.
Deer Tick announced the Divine Providence reissue in early September and previewed the collection with the previously unreleased track from the sessions, “Cake And Eggs.” The band now follows with the unheard demo for the LP’s “Make Believe.”
“To me, ‘Make Believe’ marked a sharp turn toward the music we’re making today,” guitarist Ian O’Neil noted. “The lyrics and hooks felt more measured, universal and mature. I remember thinking it was just a very sturdy song, which was really refreshing in an era where we practiced a lot of reckless abandonment.”
