Hear Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ Rollicking ‘Call Me The Breeze’ From ‘Live At The Fillmore (1997)’

Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers‘ sizzling rendition of the J.J. Cale classic “Call Me The Breeze” from the upcoming Live At The Fillmore (1997) set has been released. “Call Me The Breeze” arrived with an accompanying video directed and hand-illustrated by Jeff Scher.

Live At The Fillmore (1997) documents Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers’ historic 20-show residency at the San Francisco venue and is due out via Warner Records on November 25 in various formats. Petty called the run “the highpoint of our time together as a group.”

Captured during the final six nights of the residency, a massive 6LP box set features 58 tracks. Petty and his band went heavy on covers at The Fillmore with 35 included on the 6LP edition.

J.J. Cale wrote and recorded “Call Me The Breeze” for his 1972 debut album, Naturally. Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers premiered their version of the song in Essen, Germany on March 12, 1992 as per Setlist.FM. Thirty-four additional “Call Me The Breeze” covers followed from the group through July 24, 2005, including 10 takes during the 1997 Fillmore residency.
