Mike’s Songs: Phish Bassist Unveils Playlist Featuring Favorite Phish Tracks Of 2022

Phish bassist Mike Gordon compiled a playlist featuring his favorite live tracks from the band’s 2022 concerts. The playlist consisting of 17 tracks running over three hours can be streamed by LivePhish+ subscribers on the service’s app.

“Hello friends! Here’s another playlist of favorites from all of Phish 2022 (except the New Year’s run to come),” wrote Mike Gordon on his social feeds. “I keep notes in my journals, listen back to songs or sets that I liked. It’s never for obvious reasons.”

“I have to like the song, not just the jam, and feel fresh emotions sparking from the version I’m hearing,” Gordon added. “Apologies for repeating a song twice, but both versions offered something new for me. Please enjoy. And have an awesome thanksgiving.”

Phish played 42 shows in 2022 ahead of their upcoming New Year’s Run at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Gordon’s selections begin with the expansive “Simple” from the third night of the band’s Riviera Maya destination event and run through a well-jammed “Kill Devil Falls” played at the third night of this year’s Dicks run in Commerce City, Colorado.

The bassist skipped over April’s MSG run and follows the Riviera Maya “Simple” with a wild “Stash” from a concert in Orange Beach, Alabama that opened the spring leg of the band’s 2022 Spring + Summer Tour. He also selected “Golden Age” from Phish’s three-night stand in Orange Beach. The only other cut from spring was an extended take on his song “Mull” played in Noblesville, Indiana on June 3.

Clearly Mike Gordon was a big fan of Phish’s July 15 show in Mansfield, Massachusetts. Concise versions of “Blaze On,” “The Howling” and “A Wave Of Hope” from the band’s second night at the venue formerly known as Great Woods all made the compilation. However four songs from July 23 in Bethel, New York were included as Mike selected “Undermind,” “Ghost,” “Set Your Soul Free” and “Twist” from the Saturday night concert.

As Mike mentioned, there are repeats with “Blaze On” from a hot night in Hartford included. Short but sweet versions of “NICU” and “Everything’s Right” from night one at Jones Beach come next along with a stellar “Harry Hood” performed at the Atlantic City opener on August 5. The aforementioned Dick’s “Kill Devil Falls” ends the compilation as Mike Gordon picked just two tracks from the last 17 Phish shows.

“I’m feeling so much gratitude for my bandmates and all of you for coming and listening and being part of the fabric of our uni-energy. That’s not a word; that’s me sounding dumb, and yet authentic,” Gordon wrote to conclude his note. Listen to Mike Gordon’s Phish 2022 Selects Playlist via the LivePhish app.
