More Orchestral Dead: Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros Confirm February 2023 Concerts With Atlanta Symphony Orchestra In Atlanta

37

Bobby Weir and Wolf Bros are set to continue their orchestral collaborations in a three-night run with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in 2023. The shows are set to take place at the Atlanta Symphony Hall February 17 – 19.

For the ATL shows with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros — guitarist Bob Weir, drummer Jay Lane, bassist Don Was and keyboardist Jeff Chimenti — will once again team up with pedal steel player Barry Sless as well as The Wolfpack string and horn section of Alex Kelly, Brian Switzer, Adam Theis, Mads Tolling and Sheldon Brown.

Each night will offer a unique setlist of favorites from the Grateful Dead catalog, Bobby solo cuts and more. Stanford’s Dr. Giancarlo Aquilanti — who scored the band’s recent four-night run at The Kennedy Center with the National Symphony Orchestra — will return to provide orchestration.

“Like all of what we do, this is a work in progress,” Weir said of the project. “We’re working up more songs, and many sections will be rendered differently. Basically, this is what we were imagining when we were playin’ these back when—and yet, there’s still room for imagination—and that’s where we’ll go next with it…”
