Nathaniel Rateliff made the rounds in his adopted hometown of Denver on Saturday as the special guest of both Bob Weir and Kevin Morby. Rateliff swung by Mission Ballroom to lead Bobby Weir and Wolf Bros on a pair of tunes before teaming with Morby for a duet at the Gothic Theatre.
Weir And Wolf Bros brought their fall tour to a close on Saturday with their second of two concerts at Mission Ballroom. Keyboardist Jeff Chimenti missed the evening’s first set to deal with an undisclosed emergency but returned for the rest of the show. Bobby, bassist Don Was, drummer Jay Lane, pedal steel guitarist Barry Sless and The Wolfpack strings and horns opened with “Viola Lee Blues” before presenting the Wolf Bros debut of Grateful Dead classic “Crazy Fingers.” A take on Bob Dylan’s “She Belongs To Me” was followed by the ensemble’s first rendition of the RatDog era original “Money For Gasoline.” The set concluded with a full “Weather Report Suite,” complete with “Let It Grow,” after “Mission In The Rain” and “New Speedway Boogie.”
Nathaniel Rateliff emerged with the core Wolf Bros lineup to get Saturday’s second set underway with the John Philips-penned “Me And My Uncle.” Rateliff played acoustic guitar and traded vocal duties with Weir on “Me And My Uncle” and the “Tennessee Jed” that followed. Bobby went on to urge fans to vote during the ensuing “Throwing Stones.” A seamless run of “Estimated Prophet,” “The Other One” and “Stella Blue” came next before the full troupe sealed the frame with the oft-paired “China Cat Sunflower” and “I Know You Rider.” Bob Weir And Wolf Bros with The Wolfpack ended the night and tour with an encore featuring “One More Saturday Night” and “Brokedown Palace.”

Morby’s show at the Gothic Theatre came in support of his 2022 album, This Is A Photograph. The singer-songwriter and his ace backing band focused on material from the LP throughout the night. Nathaniel Rateliff came out for the penultimate song of the evening, “Beautiful Strangers.” Rateliff was sans guitar for the take on Morby’s 2016 single as he provided harmonies and took lead on one verse.
