See Lake Street Dive’s Funky ‘Automatic’ Cover From Intimate Concert In Brooklyn

Lake Street Dive headed to the cozy confines of Brooklyn’s The Sultan Room after recording their Fun Machine: The Sequel EP. The quintet shared pro-shot video featuring their infinitely funky version of The Pointer Sisters’ “Automatic” from The Sultan Room concert.

Fun Machine: The Sequel, which came out digitally and on CD last month and arrives on vinyl December 9, consists of six covers selected by LSD for the follow-up to their 2012 Fun Machine EP. This time around, the group made up of vocalist Rachael Price, bassist Bridget Kearney, drummer Mike Calabrese and keyboardist Akie Bermiss were joined by touring guitarist James Cornelison for takes on “Automatic,” Carole King’s “So Far Away,” Bonnie Raitt’s “Nick Of Time,” Shania Twain’s “Still The One” and more.

Lake Street Dive previously unveiled “So Far Away” video from The Sultan Room and now keeps the footage flowing with “Automatic.” Co-written by Brock Patrick Walsh and Mark Goldenberg, the song scored The Pointer Sisters a hit in 1983. Plus, Black-ish character Ruby called “Automatic” the best song ever made.
