UPDATE: Chris & Rich Robinson’s Brothers Of A Feather, Nickle Creek, & More Join MerleFest 2023 Lineup

[UPDATE 2/13/23]: Merlefest has announced the final round of artist additions to the festival’s 35th edition, set to take place on April 27th–30th on the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, NC.

Among the artists added to the lineup are The Black CrowesChris and Rich Robinson’s stripped-down side project, Brothers of a Feather, Grammy-winning acoustic trio Nickel Creek, guitarist Tommy Emmanuel, Doc Watson’s 100th Birthday Jam hosted by The Kruger Brothers, acclaimed songwriter Lori McKenna, honky-tonk storyteller Joshua Ray Walker, husband and wife duo Woody Platt and Shannon Whitworth, and more. These artists join previously announced headliners including The Avett BrothersMaren Morris, Marcus King, and Little Feat as well as festival favorites Sam Bush and Jerry Douglas.

Other artists joining the Merlefest 2023 lineup are Ali McGuirk, Bella White, Ben Chapman, The Biscuit Eaters, The Brothers Young, The Burnett Sisters Band with Colin Ray, Della Mae, Gravity Check Juggling, Henhouse Prowlers, High Road, Holt & Cabe, John Jorgensen Bluegrass Band, John Paul White, Laney Lou & The Bird Dogs, The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys, Pretty Little Goat, Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley, Songs From the Road Band, Southbound 77, and Taylon Hope.

[UPDATE 12/5/22]: MerleFest has added a slew of performers to its 2023 lineup including boogie-rock kings Little Feat, blues rock superstar Marcus King, country music legend Tanya Tucker, southern rock innovator Miko Marks, and many more.

Other additions to the 35th MerleFest lineup include AJ Lee & Blue Summit, Alison Brown, Andy Cohen, Anna Lynch, Bee Taylor, Brothers Comatose, Chris Jones & The Night Drivers, Cole Chaney, Compton & Newberry, Dom Flemons, I Draw Slow, Lightnin’ Wells, The Local Honeys, Nigel Wearne, Stillhouse Junkies, Taylor Rae, Terry Baucom’s Dukes of Drive, Todd Albright, Tommy Prine, Yasmin Williams, and The Youngers. These artists join a lineup headed by The Avett BrothersMaren Morris, and Black Opry Revue.

11/15/22: MerleFest will celebrate 35 years with a 2023 lineup headed by The Avett BrothersMaren Morris, and Black Opry Revue. The roots festival is set for April 27th–30th on the campus of Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, NC.

Next year’s gathering will have another reason to celebrate with the 100th birthday of bluegrass forefather and festival founder Doc Watson. Organizers plan to highlight MerleFest’s storied history with unique collaborations as a tribute to both the event and its late founder.

The lineup also includes award-winning MerleFest veterans and bluegrass luminaries Sam BushJerry Douglas, and Peter Rowan. The rest of the initial lineup is rounded out by Andy May, Banknotes, Carol Rifkin, Charles Welch, Donna the Buffalo, Jack Lawrence, Jeff Little Trio, Jim Lauderdale, Joe Smothers, Kruger Brothers, Laura Boosinger, The Local Boys, Mark Bumgarner, Mitch Greenhill & Mitch’s Kitchen, Pete & Joan Wernick, Presley Barker, Roy Book Binder, Scythian, T. Michael Coleman, The InterACTive Theater of Jef, The Waybacks, Tony Williamson, and Wayne Henderson.

North Carolina’s native sons The Avett Brothers will perform MerleFest on Friday, followed by country superstar and Highwoman Maren Morris on Saturday, and finally the cultural collective Black Opry Revue on Sunday.
