Singer-songwriter Shira Elias released a new solo album, SERVICES the EP. The release follows the former Turkuaz vocalist’s 2020 solo debut, GOODS the EP.
“Where GOODS was my first solo endeavor, really trying to find a voice while still living and grinding in New York,” Elias said. “SERVICES is me exploring a new world, moving to Los Angeles during a global pandemic, and trying to love who I am. I think you can really hear the evolution and the difference in the writing and production.”
Elias worked with producer Mega on the six tracks that make up the new EP. She previewed the release with the singles “HOOK’D” and “EARTH SUN.” Regarding the latter track, which features Toto/Ghost-Note keyboardist Dominique Xavier Taplin, Elias stated:
“‘Earth Sun’ talks about all of the things you wish you could say but can’t … when someone you love is trying to force their beliefs and narratives on you and you want to have a relationship, but you just can’t sacrifice your truth. So this song is about that reckoning. All of this is evoking the rollercoaster of emotions that happen when two people can’t get on the same page.”

Elias is joined by keyboardist/vocalist Swatkins on “ILSD” and former lead singer of Prince’s backing band The New Power Generation MacKenzie on the song “PERFECTLY ABLE.”
