Keyboardist Holly Bowling will part ways with Ghost Light at the end of the year. The co-founding member of the five-piece band announced the decision on her social feeds, noting “there’s far more to being in a band than the time we spend on stage playing together each night.” Bowling and Ghost Light will soon begin a West Coast tour and conclude 2022 and Holly’s time in the group on December 29 in Denver.
“I have a bittersweet announcement to share with you all today,” began Bowling’s note. “2022 will be the end of my time with Ghost Light. I’m proud of what we’ve built and love the music we’ve made together over the past five years,” Holly continued before stating, “That said, there’s far more to being in a band than the time we spend on stage playing together each night.”

“Even though it’s a very hard decision, I’ve decided it’s time to move on,” Bowling added. She explained the Denver show will be her last and hinted at an uncertain future for the project. “I will miss playing with my bandmates in Ghost Light deeply and I have no doubt the four of them will continue to make incredible music together,” wrote the keyboardist. “I wish them all the best in whatever form that takes in the future.”
Ghost Light was formed in 2017 by Bowling, guitarists Tom Hamilton and Raina Mullen, bassist Steve Lyons and drummer Scotty Zwang. Lyons left in 2019 and was replaced by Dan Africano, who departed the group earlier this year. Former Turkuaz bassist Taylor Shell took Africano’s spot. The band put out its debut album, Best Kept Secrets, in 2019 and followed with The Healing earlier this fall.
