Fan-favorite Colorado funk outfit The Motet has announced the details for its upcoming 10th studio album, All Day, and shared the album’s first track, “’79”.
All Day will mark first instrumental album for The Motet—comprised of Dave Watts (drums), Joey Porter (keys), Garrett Sayers (bass), Drew Sayers (saxophone, keys), and Ryan Jalbert—since 2009’s electronica-oriented Dig Deep.
One of the four album contributions from Dave Watts, “‘79” was written in the drummer’s home studio, which tragically burned down in the Marshall Fire at the end of 2021. That heavy backstory lends a note of resilience to the jazz-funk dance groove.

“’79” is one of four tracks that I’ve written for our new album, and will be the first instrumental song we’ve released for a Motet record since 2009,” says Watts. “Those tracks were written in my home studio, which was destroyed in the Marshall Fire, so seeing them finally come to fruition feels like a truly cathartic experience.”
