Ever wonder what musicians do during the day when playing multiple nights at the same venue? If they are upstanding people like Tyler Childers, then they spend the downtime hosting music workshops for local elementary school students.
During his two-night stand at Red Rocks Amphitheatre back in September, the country singer-songwriter and his band partnered with Can’d Aid—a multifaceted nonprofit organization dedicated to providing opportunities for underserved youth to experience music, arts, and the outdoors—to host music workshops for students at nearby Foothills Elementary.
In addition to teaching the next generation, the charitable musicians “set them up with some new ukuleles, drum kits, and more,” Childers said in a tweet. He also shared some photos that show smiling students experimenting with the ukes and bongo drums with their friends. There is even a photo of Childers himself exploring the Hawaiian instrument, and another of the band performing for a large group of clapping kids.

Though he’s already played his final show of the year, Tyler Childers will return to the road in 2023 for the Send In The Hounds Tour, which includes spring dates with Charley Crockett and Marcus King, summer dates with Elle King, Margo Price, and Drive-By Truckers, an appearance at Stagecoach Music Festival in April, and a return to Red Rocks with S.G. Goodman in September. All of his shows have already sold out with the exception of Stagecoach.
