Unknown Mortal Orchestra Drops 42-Minute ‘SB-10’ Single

50

While Unknown Mortal Orchestra fans continue to wait for details of a double album expected in 2023, the band helmed by Ruban Nielson unveiled the 10th installment of their yearly “SB” series on Christmas Eve entitled “SB-10.” The song is a sprawling 42-minute excursion that covers plenty of ground.

“SB-10” comes on the heels of last year’s holiday single, “SB-09.” Ruban Nielson is joined by a rhythm section consisting of bassist Jake Portrait and drummer Kody Nielson on the new track. The trio switches tempos throughout the trippy “SB-10” and lands upon a number of ethereal segments. A tweet last month indicated “SB-10” will be the final “SB” track.

UMO will hit the road in March for a extensive 2023 tour featuring stops in North America and the U.K. In October, the group released “I Killed Captain Cook,” the lead single from the promised double album.
