Elton John‘s “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour is expected to become the highest-grossing tour of all time. A report from Pollstar indicates all signs point towards Elton surpassing Ed Sheeran’s The Divide Tour for the title at some point in 2023.

Sheeran currently holds the record with his March 2017 – August 2019 trek and its receipts of $776.4 million. Elton’s excursion brought in $749.9 million through his final North American shows at Dodger Stadium last November. The 75-year-old musician resumed the “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour on January 8 with the start of the jaunt’s second Oceania leg. Pollstar estimates Elton could add another $30 million to the tour’s tally by the time the leg wraps up in Auckland, New Zealand on January 28. Not to mention, 48 arena shows in Europe await spanning March 23 through July 8.

The “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour started on September 8, 2018 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Elton focused on North America over the rest of 2018 and over the first three months of 2019. He then embarked on the tour’s initial European leg before returning for another North American sweep. The British singer-songwriter went on to tour Oceania from November 30, 2019 through March 7, 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic then kept Elton off the road until a January 19, 2022 concert in New Orleans.

Elton John began 2022 with a three-month North American tour. He then played stadiums and arenas in Europe from May 21 – July 4, 2022. The trek’s final North American leg spanned July 15, 2022 through November 20, 2022. Gross ticket sales of $273.8 million were reported to Pollstar last year alone. The “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour was the second highest-grossing tour of 2022 behind Bad Bunny. The tour continues on Saturday in Brisbane, Australia.
