Greensky Bluegrass welcomes Daniel Donato for a take on the Jerry Garcia Band favorite “Ain’t No Bread In The Breadbox” in new, pro-shot video.
The clip comes from Greensky’s Thursday concert at Stage AE in Pittsburgh, where the Cosmic Country bandleader and opening act joined midway through the second set. After Donato sits in on the Greensky original “I’d Probably Kill You”, Dave Bruzza fires up the guitar lick from the Norton Buffalo original made popular to legions of Deadheads through Garcia’s solo outfit.
From dobro, to banjo, to mando, to Donato, everyone gets their hands on this one. The rising Nashville guitarist picks up the song during a timid breakdown, only to steamroll the jam into a powerful ending peak.
“That was fun,” mandolinist/vocalist Paul Hoffman said, summing up the collective feeling. ” We just met him. So that was, you witnessed it. That was the first time, I can’t wait for the next time.”
