Molly Tuttle followed her Golden Highway to the set of Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Friday for a performance of “Crooked Tree”. The song serves as the title track to her 2022 LP nominated for Best Bluegrass Album.

Though Molly Tuttle has been performing bluegrass since age 11, the multi-instrumentalist virtuoso is finally getting the attention she deserves. In addition to fetching the Best Bluegrass Album Grammy nomination, she also earned a nod for Best New Artist alongside DOMi & JD BeckWet LegOmar Apollo, and others.

Tuttle’s uncompromising style that brought her to fame is encapsulated in the title track to Crooked Tree, her first album with her new backing band Golden Highway consisting of Bronwyn Keith-Hynes (fiddle), Dominick Leslie (mandolin), Shelby Means (bass) and Kyle Tuttle (banjo, no relation). As Tuttle continuously holds back well-deserved smiles, she identifies with the strength of a crooked tree that survives and succeeds because of its differences, rather than in spite of them. The song comes to an end with Tuttle’s sage introspection, “A river never wonders / Why it flows around the bend / A mountain doesn’t question / How it rose up from the land / So who am I to wish / I wasn’t just the way I am / Who am I?”

Watch Molly Tuttle and Golden Highway perform “Crooked Tree” on Kimmel. She is set to collaborate with The Infamous Stringdusters on March 23rd for a headlining set at Suwannee Spring Reunion in Live Oak, FL. For tickets and a full list of tour dates visit her website.
