Fresh off a run celebrating their 25th anniversary, Umphrey’s McGee continues to look back at the past 25 years with the announcement and first release of a curated archival series. Archive Roulette will see the band dig into its vault for previously unreleased audio and video throughout 2023.

The initial offering of the series is drummer Kris Myers‘ first full show as a member of Umphrey’s McGee, which took place 20 years ago this week. Myers officially began a run behind the kit that continues through the present on January 23, 2003 at The Buskirk-Chumley Theater in Bloomington, Indiana. Kris replaced founding drummer Mike Mirro and previewed his tenure with a guest appearance at the band’s New Year’s Eve 2002 performance.

Umphrey’s January 23, 2003 concert features plenty of beloved favorites including “Pay The Snucka,” “The Triple Wide,” “Push The Pig” and “Utopian Fir.” The newly cemented lineup shows off its improvisational prowess on extended versions of “Der Bluten Kat” and “JaJunk” that each spanned nearly 20 minutes. A cover of The Police’s “Walking On The Moon” within the evening’s second set gave way to a drum duet between Kris Myers and Jake Cinninger with Myers eventually left alone on stage. A tease-filled “Utopian Fir” and early version of “Uncommon” punctuated the show.

Each installment of Archive Roulette will be available via nugs.net and umlive.net. Look for additional details including specific show information, the timing of drops and the chance to request shows to follow.
