moe. will have no trouble finding its way to the Palace Theatre in Albany, NY tonight after the city temporarily renamed the street on which the venue stands, N. Pearl Street, to moe.street. The change comes in celebration of the fifth annual moe.day in Albany ahead of the band’s two-night run at the Palace Theatre on Friday and Saturday.

“We are overwhelmed with the love the City Of Albany has given our band over the years,” guitarist Al Schnier said. “From declaring Feb 24th as ‘moe.day’ to this, the dedication of ‘moe.street’ in front of The Palace Theatre, we are humbled and deeply honored.”

Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan introduced moe.day as an official holiday in 2018 when the Buffalo-bred sextet returned to the city for the first time after bassist Rob Derhak successfully underwent treatment for oropharyngeal cancer. The holiday also recognizes moe.’s long history with Albany, stretching back to the band’s first performance at the Palace Theatre on February 23rd, 1996 for a “Rock The Vote” concert. Saturday will mark moe.’s 17th concert at the Palace, in addition to a virtual show taped in the lobby during the 2020 COVID lockdowns.

moe. has plenty to celebrate this moe.day with the return of founding guitarist Chuck Garvey. On New Year’s Eve 2022, the guitarist took the stage with moe. for the first time since suffering a stroke in November 2021 and is now fully back on tour.

Friday will also mark keyboardist Nate Wilson‘s first moe.day as an official member of the band, with moe. formally welcoming the Percy Hill co-founder as a full-fledged member of the band. Along with guitarist Suke Cerulo, Wilson helped man the fort with Al Schnier, Rob Derhak, Jim Loughlin, and Vinnie Amico, while Garvey was recuperating.

Tickets for moe.’s two-night run at the Palace Theatre, as well as the rest of the band’s winter/spring tour, are on sale here.
