Beck served as the musical guest on Thursday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. Guitarist Blake Mills and bassist Pino Palladino accompanied Beck on a stirring rendition of his new single, “Thinking About You.”
“Thinking About You” hearkens back to the singer-songwriter’s Morning Phase and Sea Change periods as a stripped-down folk-infused number without the elements of pop that have been prominent on his past few albums. Mills appears on the studio version of the track, which was released one week prior to the Kimmel appearance and also features Roger Manning on keyboards and Justin Meldal-Johnsen on bass.
Beck will devote much of his summer to a co-headlining tour with Phoenix. Up first are trips to Australia and appearances at the High Water Festival and the Willie Nelson 90 celebrations.
