Foo Fighters’ Chris Shiflett Shares New Bombastic Single ‘Black Top White Lines’

29

Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett continues his dalliance with country music on his new solo single “Black Top White Lines.” The hard-hitting number combining the rock for which he’s known and his country-leaning influences was written with Jaren Johnston (The Cadillac Three) and John Osborne (Brothers Osborne).

“Black Top White Lines” arrives after Shiflett put out “Born & Raised” and “Long, Long Year” in 2022. The new track is expected to appear on a solo studio album due out later this year from Chris Shiflett via Blue Élan Records. More details of the Jaren Johnston-produced LP will be revealed in the coming months.

Chris Shiflett, Jaren Johnston and John Osborne connected through Zoom in the middle of 2020 to pen “Black Top White Lines” and a while later realized it would work well for the project. “Jaren and I were going over song ideas, and it’d been a minute since we wrote it, so when we re-visited the track he was like, ‘Dude you gotta record this one…It’s a banger!’,” recalled Shiflett. “Right away in the studio I could tell it was a bit of a left turn for me musically but that’s also what I like about it.”
