Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros capped a four-night run at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York on Saturday night. Goose’s Rick Mitarotonda and Peter Anspach were tapped to sit in with the band, along with several other special guests who participated throughout the two-set show.
Grateful Dead/Dead & Company guitarist Bob Weir, bassist Don Was, keyboardist Jeff Chimenti, drummer Jay Lane and pedal steel guitarist Barry Sless, who make up the core of the group, were augmented for most of the show by The Wolf Pack — violinist Mads Tolling, cellist Alex Kelly, trombonist Adam Theis, trumpeter Brian Switzer and saxophonist Sheldon Brown.
Goose guitarist Rick Mitarotonda, who last weekend performed with Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh, came out at the start of the second set. Mitarotonda reprised the acoustic “Peggy-O” duet he and Weir performed at Dead & Company’s recent Playing In The Sand event in Mexico. Weir, Mitarotonda, Was, Chimenti, Lane and Sless then performed “Me And My Uncle.” Mitarotonda exited and the full 10-piece ensemble tackled “Scarlet Begoinas” and “Estimated Prophet.”

Mitarotonda returned with Peter Anspach joining Chimenti on keys for “Franklin’s Tower” into “The Other One.” Saxophonist Kenny Brooks, who sat in extensively in the first set, was also part of the “Franklin’s”/“Other One” pairing. The Goose guests and Brooks left ahead of The Beatles’ “Dear Prudence” and the set-closing “Terrapin Station.”
Mitarotonda was back for the start of the encore, which began with “Brokedown Palace” and saw Sasha Dobson adding backing vocals through Lane’s microphone. The night ended with Mitarotonda, Anspach, Dobson and keyboardist Dred Scott (who also came out in the first set) joining Weir and the rest of the band on a fitting “One More Saturday Night.”
