When Phil Lesh initially announced a pair of Phil Lesh & Friends shows in Chicago, the Grateful Dead bassist noted one “very special guest” would be added to the lineup. Today, Phil revealed Gov’t Mule frontman and frequent “friend” Warren Haynes will perform with the ensemble at The Salt Shed on March 11 and 12.

Warren Haynes solidifies a Phil Lesh & Friends lineup for The Salt Shed that features Phil on bass along with Grahame Lesh on guitar, Jason Crosby on keyboards/fiddle, John Molo on drums and the Trey Anastasio Band horn section of Jennifer Hartswick, James Casey and Natalie Cressman. The concerts will be each of the musicians’ first performances at the new Chicago venue.

“It’s such a joy every time I time get to play music with Warren Haynes,” Phil Lesh wrote in sharing the news on Instagram. Warren Haynes is a member of the long-running Phil Lesh Quintet iteration first assembled in Fall 2000 that was in place through 2003 and has played sporadically since. Haynes has also performed with various other incarnations of Phil Lesh & Friends over the years.

While the show on Saturday, March 11 is sold out, limited tickets remain for Sunday, March 12.
