New Orleans musical icon and cultural ambassador Trombone Shorty has announced a major summer tour spanning both coasts featuring Yola, Mavis Staples, Robert Randolph Band, Devon Gilfillian, and co-headliner Ziggy Marley.

The tour will kick off in June with a run of East Coast shows with Yola, Mavis Staples, and Robert Randolph Band. In July and August, Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue will link up with Ziggy Marley for co-headlining shows around the Midwest and West Coast. Mavis Staples, Robert Randolph Band, and Devon Gilfillian will remain on the tour, which is set to conclude at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory in Irving, TX on Sunday, August 13th.

In addition to the newly announced summer tour dates, Trombone Shorty is slated to perform the closing set at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival in May, and he has upcoming shows on the East Coast and in Australia in March and April.

Trombone Shorty is coming off a milestone year in which the New Orleans musician released a new album, Lifted, and performed on a number of TV programs including Jimmy Kimmel Live, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Good Morning America, and ESPN‘s Sportscenter as well as at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Grammy Salute to Paul Simon Concert, and the MusiCares Person of the Year event honoring Berry Gordy and Smokey Robinson. He also toured the world with his Voodoo Threauxdown Tour featuring Tank and the Bangas, Big Freedia, Cyril Neville, George Porter Jr., Dumpstaphunk, and The Soul Rebels, headlining iconic venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Hollywood Bowl, and Central Park Summerstage and earned his first Grammy for his work with Jon Batiste.

One dollar from every ticket sold will benefit The Trombone Shorty Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to inspiring the next generation of talented youth through music education, instruction, mentorship, and performance. Last year Trombone Shorty led a five-day “Havana Funk Expedition” cultural exchange trip to Cuba in partnership with the organization in celebration of the musical and cultural connections between Cuba and New Orleans.

One dollar from each ticket will also benefit Ziggy Marley’s 501(c)3 nonprofit URGE, which supports efforts in Jamaica and other developing areas around the world to build new schools, operate health clinics, and support the overall well-being of children.

A presale for tickets to Trombone Shorty’s summer tour dates will begin tomorrow, Friday, February 17th at 10 a.m. local time.
