Yo La Tengo Returns To Hoboken Waterfront With New Single ‘Sinatra Drive Breakdown’

Yo La Tengo will release This Stupid World, their first full-length album since 2018, this Friday, February 10 through Matador Records. The band that originated in Hoboken, New Jersey, released another preview of the pending album with the single, “Sinatra Drive Breakdown.”

While previous albums have typically seen Yo La Tengo working with outside producers, This Stupid World was self-produced and recorded by Ira Kaplan, Georgia Hubley and James McNew. The nine-song This Stupid World, which follows their 2018 LP There’s A Riot Going On, features previously issued singles “Fallout” and “Aselestine.” The album’s first track, “Sinatra Drive Breakdown,” takes its title from the Hoboken, New Jersey waterfront boulevard.

Yo La Tengo’s tour in support of This Stupid World begins on February 15 in Seattle. The band will continue with shows across the United States, concluding in Minneapolis on March 26. YLT will then embark on a European tour spanning April 10 to May 4.

The sprawling, seven-minute “Sinatra Drive Breakdown” arrived with a visualizer directed by Curtis Godino/Drippy Eye Projections. Watch here:
