39

A.J. Croce, son of late singer-songwriter Jim Croce, confirmed tour dates for his Croce Plays Croce 50th Anniversary Tour. The 17-city fall trek will see A.J. performing songs from his father’s 1973 albums Life and Times and I Got A Name as well as from Croce’s 1972 breakthrough LP, You Don’t Mess Around With Jim.

Jim Croce died tragically in a plane crash on September 30, 1973 at the age of 30. The title track for what would become his final album, I Got A Name, would be released the day after his death with the LP arriving two months later. A.J. celebrates both his father’s 1973 albums, I Got A Name and Life and Times — the latter containing the beloved “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown” — on the upcoming Croce Plays Croce 50th Anniversary Tour.

The autumn excursion launches on October 27 in Springfield, Massachusetts ahead of a show in Boston. October 30 sees A.J. in Red Bank, New Jersey before returning to the Croce family’s native Pennsylvania with a concert in Reading on November 1.

After dipping down to Virginia Beach, Croce returns to the Northwest with a show in New York City on November 4. Additional Pennsylvania concerts include Glenside and Munhall, split by a swing through Rochester, New York on November 7.

November 12 sees A.J. in the Detroit area followed by Midwest stops in Des Moines, Iowa and Minneapolis. A four-night stint in Flordia follows with concerts in Jacksonville, Fort Lauderdale, Clearwater and Melbourne to wrap the tour on November 29.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, March 31.
