Marcus Rezak Drops Fiery ‘Sweet Like Mary Jane’ Single

Guitarist Marcus Rezak released the anthemic new single “Sweet Like Mary Jane.” The track offers the first preview of Guitar Head, a blues-oriented album due out via Color Red with a release date to be announced.

Rezak worked with acclaimed blues guitarist and Grammy-winning producer Paul Nelson on Guitar Head. With Nelson behind the board, the Shred Is Dead/Gumbo guitarist recorded the album at the in-house studio of The Music Room in Yarmouth, Massachusetts. Marcus employed a rhythm section of drummer Adrian Tramontano (Twiddle/Kung Fu) and bassist Chris DeAngelis (Kung Fu/The Machine) for his forthcoming record. Trey Anastasio Band keyboardist Ray Paczkowski and Little Feat multi-instrumentalist Erik Lawrence also contributed to the LP.

Hailing from Chicago, the new single and pending album give Rezak a chance to honor his roots in the “Home of the Blues.” Marcus was also inspired by Jimi Hendrix and Warren Haynes on “Sweet Like Mary Jane,” a tribute to women working in the cannabis industry.

The guitarist will celebrate the release of the track with a three-night run featuring his Guitar Head collaborators that begins tonight (Thursday, March 16) in Newmarket, New Hampshire. Rezak then brings his band to Waterbury, Vermont on Friday and Cohoes, New York on Saturday.
