The three days of Power Trip will feature two headliners each night, beginning on Friday with Guns N’ Roses and Iron Maiden. On Saturday, AC/DC and Ozzy Osbourne will both make their historic returns to the stage, and on Sunday Metallica and Tool will close out the festival.

Fans can register now for tickets to Power Trip, which go on sale on Thursday, April 6th at 10 a.m. PT and start at $599 plus fees for general admission. Only those who register ahead of time will have access to purchase tickets.

Power Trip follows in the lineage of Goldenvoice’s wildly successful 2016 festival, Desert Trip. Nicknamed “Oldchella” by Stereogum, the six-day event grossed $160 million by bringing in top classic rockers The Rolling StonesPaul McCartneyBob DylanRoger WatersNeil Young, and The Who.

Saturday, October 7th will mark AC/DC’s first concert since 2016 when Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose stepped in for Brian Johnson. Osbourne, on the other hand, announced his retirement from the road last month but in a statement to fans left the door open for future live performances.

[3/29/23]: Something new is brewing from festival promoter Goldenvoice, and it involves metal heavyweights Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, ToolAC/DC, and Iron Maiden. On Tuesday, all of the acts posted similar teaser videos for a new festival, Power Trip.

The Scenestar reports that the Goldenvoice-produced festival will occur October 6th–8th at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA, the same site as Coachella. The teaser videos posted to social media indicate that full details will follow on Thursday, March 30th.

Power Trip seems reminiscent of Goldenvoice’s 2016 Desert Trip event in Indio which brought together classic rock icons The Rolling StonesPaul McCartneyBob DylanRoger WatersNeil Young, and The Who. Nicknamed “Oldchella” by Stereogum, the event reportedly grossed $160 million over six days, making it one of the most lucrative music festivals in U.S. history. Fans can sign up for the Power Trip newsletter to receive first access when details are announced tomorrow.

Power Trip would mark historical comebacks for headliners Ozzy Osbourne and AC/DC, the former of whom just announced his retirement from touring last month. Citing ongoing health issues, including a 2019 spinal injury, the Prince of Darkness stated his body could no longer handle the rigors of the road. In that same announcement, however, the heavy metal singer who began his first farewell tour back in 1992 noted that, “My team is currently coming up with ideas for where I will be able to perform without having to travel from city to city and country to country.”

AC/DC, on the other hand, last performed in 2016 with Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose filling in for frontman Brian Johnson. Since then, the Australian rock band suffered the death of foundational rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young in 2017, though AC/DC did return in 2020 with the new album, Power Up.
