U2 frontman Bono and guitarist The Edge delivered a Tiny Desk Concert. The legendary Irish rockers performed selections from U2’s album, Songs Of Surrender, and also welcomed a teen choir from the Duke Ellington School of the Arts.
Following Bono’s memoir, Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story, Songs of Surrender arrived today (March 17). The record contains 40 U2 songs reimagined in a stripped-down format, perfect for a Tiny Desk Concert. While Songs Of Surrender features tunes from across the band’s catalog, Bono, The Edge and the Duke Ellington School of the Arts choir focused on reworked tracks from U2’s 2000 album All That You Can’t Leave Behind.
The singer, guitarist and choir kicked off the Tiny Desk with the uplifting “Beautiful Day.” Bono and The Edge followed with “In A Little While” ahead of an emotional performance of “Stuck in a Moment You Can’t Get Out Of,” a tribute to late INXS singer Michael Hutchence. Bono and The Edge concluded their Tiny Desk with the Songs Of Surrender version of “Walk On,” which Bono noted they rewrote as the war in Ukraine broke out and dedicated it to the people of Ukraine.
