Watch Goose Offshoot Orebolo Cover Phish’s ‘Meat’ With Tom Marshall

Acoustic trio Orebolo featuring Goose members Rick Mitarotonda, Peter Anspach and Jeff Arevalo participated in an afternoon of “Conversation And Music” put on by JamBase partners Osiris Media yesterday at Garcia’s in Port Chester, New York. Lyricist Tom Marshall and Osiris CEO RJ Bee co-hosted the event which included Marshall joining Orebolo to sing the words he wrote for the Phish classic “Meat.”

Orebolo played a total of six songs just hours before Goose closed out a five-night residency at the adjacent Capitol Theatre. Mitarotonda and Anspach utilized acoustic guitars with Arevalo on upright bass throughout. Additionally, Rick, Peter and Jeff spoke with the co-hosts about a variety of topics at Sunday’s event.

The three musicians offered stripped-down renditions of Goose tunes in addition to the “Meat” cover starting with a take on the year-old “Silver Rising.” Orebolo then served up a gorgeous “Honeybee” and intense version of the title track from the latest Goose album, 2022’s Dripfield.

The next Orebolo performance was “Thatch,” a song debuted by Goose in Glens Falls last November during the TABoose tour with the Trey Anastasio Band. Marshall then helmed the aforementioned “Meat.” Tom and Orebolo delivered a concise version of the song co-written by Marshall and the four members of Phish. Mitarotonda, Anspach and Arevalo treated attendees to a beautiful “This Old Sea” as their final tune of the afternoon.
