An all-star cast of musicians came together Monday night at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville for the “Love Rising” charity concert with proceeds benefiting pro-LGBTQ+ organizations Tennessee Equality Project, inclusion tennessee, OUTMemphis and The Tennessee Pride Chamber. Among the memorable performances was a collaboration featuring Hozier and Allison Russell.

Jason Isbell, Amanda Shires, Sheryl Crow, Hayley Williams, Brittany Howard, Maren Morris, Yola, Julien Baker, Joy Oladokun, Ruby Amanfu, Shea Diamond and others participated in last night’s benefit concert. The Highwomen (minus Brandi Carlile and Natalie Hemby) led a rousing performance of “Crowded Table” while joined by local Nashville drag performers.

“As a queer, intersectional artist and mother, raising my child in Nashville, it’s important to me to support these wonderful Tennessee LGBTQIA+ advocacy organizations, working so hard to build bridges, reduce harm and promote equality for all Tennesseans,” Russell stated when the concert was announced. “LGBTQIA+ contributions and creativity are foundational to every genre of modern song and arts performance. I think it speaks volumes that so many in our community are feeling the same call to support, celebrate and uplift!”

In addition to joining Hozier, Russell also accompanied Jason Isbell on Wet Willie’s “Keep On Smilin,’” led a cover of Alicia Keys’ “A Beautiful Noise” with Ruby Amanfu and Shea Diamond, and came onstage for “Crowded Table” and the “We Are Family” finale with the other participants.

With Hozier, Russell performed Mavis Staples’ part on “Nina Cried Power,” which was recorded and released by Hozier on his 2019 sophomore album, Wasteland, Baby! Hozier followed with his “Take Me To Church.”
