Renowned guitarist and singer-songwriter Bonnie Raitt postponed a series of May headlining tour dates and canceled her appearance at Brandi Carlile’s Mothership Weekend under doctor’s orders. Raitt “has a medical situation that requires surgery to address,” as per an announcement on social media.

Bonnie Raitt was slated to begin a brief U.S. tour at Brandi Carlile’s Mothership Weekend on May 14 and follow with shows in Athens on May 17, Louisville on May 19, Indianapolis on May 20 and Pittsburgh on May 23. The Louisville and Indianapolis concerts have been rescheduled for June 30 and July 1 respectively. Raitt will make up the performances in Athens and Pittsburgh at some point in 2024.

Doctors advised Raitt to rest for a few weeks in order to heal properly from the unspecified procedure. “We deeply apologize for this delay and inconvenience,” continued the note from Bonnie’s team. “It’s always upsetting to have to disappoint her fans, band, crew and our promoters, but sometimes unforeseen things just happen. Thankfully, Bonnie’s in great hands. She was so looking forward to these shows, but we’re excited to be able to resume our 2023 tour, now kicking off in Dublin, Ireland, June 1st.”

Ticketholders are advised to hold onto their tickets are they will be valid on the new dates. Read the full statement from Bonnie Raitt’s team below:
