Eddie Roberts & The Lucky Strokes Share Debut Single ‘Whiskey Makes Me Stronger’ & Tour Dates

32

The New Mastersounds guitarist Eddie Roberts shared the first single from his new project Eddie Roberts and the Lucky Strokes. “Whiskey Makes Me Stronger” is set to appear on the group’s upcoming debut album, which will arrive via Roberts’ Color Red label.

Eddie Roberts And The Lucky Storkes is Roberts on guitar, Mississippi-based guitarist and vocalist Shelby Kemp (Royal Horses) and Tampa’s Galbraith sisters — drummer Taylor Galbraith and bassist Ashley Galbraith — holding down the rhythm section. The quartet first collaborated at the 20th-anniversary party for Denver’s Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom. Feeling the chemistry, Roberts got the group into his Color Red Studios the next day to cut the album.

“We’ve recorded this album super raw,” Eddie said, “it’s funky southern rock crunched to tape, in one take, just like it should be!”

Kemp also detailed the new single “Whiskey Makes Me Stronger.” “The message, if there even is one, is to seek therapy from a professional, not a bottle.”

Eddie Roberts & The Lucky Strokes also have a handful of tour dates on the books beginning in Mobile, Alabama on April 27. The quartet will then make the round in New Orleans during Jazz Fest with concerts at “Blue Nile” (April 28), The Maple Leaf Bar (May 1) and Howlin’ Wolf Den for Bayou Rendevous (May 5). Eddie Roberts & The Lucky Strokes also have a slot at Suwanee Hulaween in October.
