Khruangbin Readies Live Album Series Featuring Diverse Array Of Guests

36

Khruangbin detailed a series of live albums that will be released over the coming months, beginning with the May 19 release of Khruangbin & Friends: Live at Stubb’s through Dead Oceans in partnership with Night Time Stories Ltd. Special guests are showcased across each album including Nubya Garcia, Men I Trust, Toro y Moi and others.

The Texas-born trio’s first installment in the series pairs live performances by Khruangbin with tourmates Robert Ellis, The Suffers, Ruben Moreno and Kelly Doyle recorded live at Stubb’s in Austin, Texas. The second installment, coming out on June 30, will feature Nuby Garcia and Khruangbin performing at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

The third live album features Khruangbin and Men I Trust performing live at Toronto’s RBC Echo Beach and will arrive on August 11. Another installment set for release on September 22 will feature Khruangbin and Toro y Moi’s performances at The Fillmore Miami.

Regarding the series, Khruangbin — bassist Laura Lee, guitarist Mark Speer and drummer Donald “DJ” Johnson — issued the statement below:

“We toured the world for over 18 months, when global restrictions just started to slowly lift through the long anticipated end of regulations.

“From our vantage point, to watch people come together through song and dance after a time of unified isolation was truly a spiritual experience. To watch and hear audiences sing along to the songs we released during the pandemic and to feel so loved and well received was unquantifiable. We wanted to find a way to hallmark this journey and decided to do so through a series of live releases that also commemorate the artists who performed with us, as well as the artwork and photography from those shows. It was and is truly a time to remember.”
