Mac DeMarco shared an unannounced new album, One Wayne G, consisting of 199 tracks. The largely instrumental album’s running time is nine and a half hours in total.
DeMarco named the new album after legendary hockey player and fellow Canadian Wayne Gretzky. The track titles appear to be dates, perhaps indicating when they were recorded. The dates span from May 12, 2018 to January 14, 2023. In some instances, the same date appears on multiple tracks.
There are 18 tracks with dates as well as words for titles that are more fully fleshed-out demos. More akin to fully realized songs, they also feature lyrics sung by DeMarco.
DeMarco released Five Easy Hot Dogs in January on his Mac’s Record Label. The instrumental album documented a road trip the Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter took across North America. DeMarco will bring the album to the live stage with a series of tour dates scheduled this summer in Los Angeles, New York City, Paris (tickets on sale today) and London (tickets on sale May 9).
