Diplo shared a new single, “Use Me (Brutal Hearts),” featuring Sturgill Simpson as Johnny Blue Skies and Dove Cameron. The track is part of Diplo’s new project under his Thomas Wesley country moniker titled Diplo Presents Thomas Wesley: Chapter 2 — Swamp Savant, due out on April 28.
Diplo previewed Swamp Savant in January with “Wasted” featuring Kodak Black and Koe Wetzel. The superstar producer now follows with “Use Me (Brutal Hearts)” which features Dove Cameron and sees Sturgill Simpson singing in the persona of Johnny Blue Skies.
Diplo took to social media to detail the new track:
I took many journeys in my life and consulted a guru on the highest hill I could find in Florida (it was a pile of used cars at a landfill) and he told me to launch the Thomas Wesley reboot I needed to combine disco, classic country, pop, and swamp sauce. Sturgill Simpson is a world wanderer like me and has one of the greatest voices of our generation. We met up many years ago in a seedy pool hall in the outskirts of Tokyo trying to find the best whisky… he was a man after my own heart. And he didn’t miss one shot on the billiards table. I had to work some magic to make this art piece of a song with him and then Dove Cameron stepped in to be our muse in the end Sean Penn put the final touches on the madness that is “Use Me.”
As Diplo noted, “Use Me (Brutal Hearts)” arrived with a music video starring Sean Penn as Johnny Blue Skies. Watch below:
