Tanya Tucker, who this week was inducted into the Country Music Hall Of Fame, detailed a new album entitled Sweet Western Sound that will arrive on June 2 via Fantasy Records. Tucker also shared a video for the album’s lead track, “Kindness.”
Sweet Western Sound follows Tucker’s 2019 comeback release, While I’m Livin’, which was her first new album in 17 years. Like its predecessor, Sweet Western Sound was co-produced by Brandi Carlile and Shooter Jennings.
“Sweet Western Sound is another revelation and I’m excited to see what folks think of our new endeavor,” says Tanya. “It’s ALWAYS a trip working with Brandi and Shooter. I didn’t know if we’d be working together again on a new album after While I’m Livin’ !! But we did it! Lots of new things we did this time and I even co-wrote some of the songs, which means a lot to me. Brandi says we’re MAGIC together, and I’m starting to believe her!!!!”
The 10 songs on Sweet Western Sound were written by Tucker, Carlile, Jennings and a variety of collaborators including Carlile’s bandmates Phil Hanseroth and Tim Hanseroth, Birds Of Chicago’s JT Nero, songwriting legend Bernie Taupin and renowned country songwriters Billy Don Burns and Craig Dillingham. Additionally, the late Billy Joe Shaver, Tucker’s “hero and close friend” posthumously appears via “a voicemail-generated rhyme … which opens and closes the album.”
Tucker will celebrate the release of Sweet Western Sound with concerts at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on June 3 and 4. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 7 at 10 a.m. CT. Purchase Tanya Tucker Ryman Auditorium tickets via AXS.com.
