The Infamous Stringdusters revisit their bluegrass roots and pay homage to their musical forebearers on the band’s new album, A Tribute To Flatt & Scruggs.

Honoring Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs, whose distinctive styles of singing and banjo playing helped birth the bluegrass sound, the album follows in the footsteps of The Infamous Stringdusters’ Grammy-nominated A Tribute to Bill Monroe, which likewise celebrated the Father of Bluegrass Bill Monroe.

“The concept of paying tribute to the Grandfathers or originators of Bluegrass is one we bounced around for a while and after Bill Monroe, the most logical, I think any bluegrass musician would agree, are Flatt & Scruggs,” said Stringdusters bassist Travis Book. “They’re legendary; without Earl’s banjo, bluegrass just doesn’t exist as we know it today.”

Released via the band’s own Americana Vibes label, A Tribute To Flatt & Scruggs includes six songs from Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs’s catalog recorded the old fashioned way, live in studio with all of the band members playing together in one room. The album is available now on all streaming platforms. Listen via Soundcloud in the player below, and click below to watch behind the song videos for three tracks from the album. Limited color vinyl and more Flatt & Scruggs-centric merch is available here.
