Trey Anastasio Announces Trio Shows With Jon Fishman & Dezron Douglas

47

The Trey Anastasio Trio will return with a lineup featuring Jon Fishman and Dezron Douglas for a run of three shows at Denver’s Mission Ballroom on June 9th–11th. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, April 7th at 10 a.m. MT here.

The last Trey Anastasio Trio shows took place in 2018 after Trey Anastasio Band keyboardist Ray Paczkowski had a brain tumor removed during the band’s spring tour, which happened to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the first time Trey shared the stage with Tony Markelis and Russ Lawton at the “8 Foot Fluorescent Tubes” concert at the original Higher Ground in Winooski, VT. To mark the occasion and in response to Ray’s absence, they played as a trio for the first time since 1999. Ray later joined the trio on the road for a run of quartet performances after taking time to recover from surgery.

The trio will look a little different now with Dezron Douglas taking the place of the late, great Tony Markelis and Jon Fishman sitting in for Russ Lawton. The two musicians played together at the end of Douglas’s first tour with Trey Anastasio Band in fall 2021 after Lawton tested positive for COVID-19 along with the band’s horn section, leaving just the quintet of Trey, Douglas, Fishman, Paczkowski, and percussionist Cyro Baptista to handle shows in Pittsburgh, Washington D.C., and NYC.
